We are mountain mana outfitters

Mountain Mana Outfitters, LLC is a full service hunting, guiding, and outfitting company located on the island of Oahu in the State of Hawaii.  Our foundation of outdoor and hunting knowledge has been laid over lifetimes. Our founders and guides Steve Trimble and Tanner Scotson have a combined 50+ years of hunting and outdoor leadership experience, with 35+ of those years here in Hawaii. Mountain Mana Outfitters offers authentic and challenging hunting opportunities grounded in skill, tradition, and respect.  We believe hunting is more than a sport – it is a way of life which connects us with nature and our ancestors - it provides for our friends and families - and it honors the wildlife, land, and people of Hawaii. Whether it’s your first hunt or your 101st hunt we strive to make it the hunt of your lifetime.

Steve Trimble, Founder/Guide:

Steve was born in New Mexico, raised in Texas and, as a member of a multi-generational military family, brought up in myriad locations across the United States.  As an adventurous and outdoorsy child, Steve’s playground became the diverse landscapes and wild lands of the mainland of North America. From the whitetail deer and black bear of the mid-Atlantic woodlands and swamps, to the elk and big cats of the western mountains and prairies, Steve has extensive experience with a wide variety of game species and backcountry environments.  20 years ago Steve’s outdoor adventures brought him to the great State of Hawaii.  Over the years he has planned and led hunts across the islands for axis deer, mouflon and feral sheep, feral goats, feral pigs, and various game bird species.  Steve is a seasoned hunt planner with an eye for logistics making sure every expedition provides hunters with the best possible opportunities for success. For Steve, every outing is an opportunity to grow as a hunter and outdoorsman.  His passion for the outdoors and hunting is unmatched and he loves sharing this enthusiasm with his clients. Steve received his Wilderness First Responder, CPR, and Epinephrine certifications from the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). When he is not out hunting Steve can be found surfing, fishing or practicing law as a licensed attorney in the State of Hawaii.

Tanner Scotson, Founder/Guide:

Tanner was raised in a small rural town in northeast Montana. He developed his skills through countless days in the field with his stepfather, Lary, as well as his grandfathers and cousins, who taught him everything from tracking to processing the animal with care and respect. Growing up, Tanner played every sport his small town offered—baseball, basketball, football, and track and field—which helped him develop teamwork, leadership, and discipline. These experiences, combined with his family’s guidance, laid the foundation for the patience, adaptability, and positive attitude he brings to guiding today. Tanner also received his Wilderness First Responder, CPR, and Epinephrine certifications from the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

Tanner grew up hunting whitetail, mule deer, pheasant, grouse, and antelope across the rolling hills of eastern Montana’s landscape. Over the years, he has carried those skills into new terrain, and after moving to Hawaii 15 years ago, he has dedicated himself to exploring the islands’ rugged outdoors. In Hawaii, Tanner has found hunting success on Lanai while pursuing Axis deer and Mouflon sheep, as well as on Oahu hunting boar, feral goat, and game birds. His ability to stay upbeat and level-headed under pressure—whether in the field, on the court, or in life—allows him to guide with confidence and create a steady, enjoyable experience for those around him.

Today, Tanner divides his time between guiding hunts and building his other business, SOS Solutions, a project management, renovation, and design company. When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors, making music, and playing in a basketball league with former college friends. Whether in the mountains of Montana, the forests of Hawaii, or on the court, Tanner’s approach has always been the same: stay positive, work hard, respect the land, and share the knowledge and traditions that have been passed down through generations.
